Goodness, last night was a great night of television! In case you didn't realize, Gladiators returned for a 2 hour special last night. It starts again tonight in its normal timeslot at 8 p.m. Watch it! Here are my reflections:

Pros:
- Held true to the formula of good sportsmanlike competition between contenders and gladiators.
- Many returning events from the past, and some new ones.
- Water for breaking falls instead of netting.
- Great personalities as gladiators. In particular Wolf, Koa, and Titan are really cool. On the women's side, Crush is HOT and Helga is LOL!
- The Eliminator is ROUGH. I've never seen a harder, more energy-sapping rendition of the final event. Excellent stuff.
- Fat referee FTW.
- Clear tournament schedule, letting you know where each contender stands in the ongoing competition...something the old show lacked.

Cons:
- Hulk and Layla. Seriously, I was disappointed in both of them. Neither is cut out to be hosting anything, even though I obviously think Hulk can be an entertaining guy. I would rather have someone with more announcing ability, because it always sounds like the two of them are really floudering for stuff to say. Or repeating themselves. Or repeating themselves.

Seriously, if Kira Bristow was real, she would be Crush.

Wolf and Toa are AWESOME! Fury, Crush & Hellga are kool, not sure with the others.

I must say yeah Crush is the hottest one by far. And in that joust against the girl in Blue... she just DOMINATED HER. I lost count how many times she nailed that chick in the head with the joust. It was per awesome!

I did a little research (AKA hunting for pictures) on Crush, AKA Gina Carano and found out she's an MMA fighter FO REALZ. She specializes in muay-thai boxing, and her record is 5-0-0 with her latest win being her first submission. Looks like being undefeated comes easily for her Razz

when did they bring this show back it was great back in the day? And what channel is it on?

The 2-hour premiere was on Sunday night and the show is now in a regular timeslot at 8pm on Mondays. It's on channel 4.

Josh I have the 2-hour premiere and Monday's show on my DVR if you're in town sometime soon. I probably won't keep them for more than a couple weeks cuz with new shows starting up, I will probably have lots to record...

Found out that Wolf used to wrestle in UPW (WWE's old "farm team" where John Cena & Samoa Joe started out) under the name "Hollywood." You can still see his old bio page if you go to their website:

Titan (aka Mike O'Hearn) is the husband of Scott Steiner's valet Midajah in WCW. I recognized him right away when they started showing promotional crapz.

And of course Justice was on Tough Enough 4 a few years back.[/url]
