So my mouse if finally starting to give up. It's been good to me, had it since college but now the right button is giving up (would have thought it would be the left). I've been look at wireless but I'm not sure how that would affect gaming.

Here are several that I've looked at (not all are wireless). I need input!!! The one thing it needs to be able to do is go from XP to VISTA when I finally upgrade my system. Are any of these better than the other or do you guys have a different one to suggest?

I can't offer you much in the way of mouse advice, since I'm still using the same Microsoft lazer mouse as when I was in school (never given me any problems at all)...however, I've used every MS OS under the sun, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't make a difference from XP to Vista what mouse you're using.

I've had the same mouse since 1999 so I have no idea.

I like Logitech mice. I used to like Microsoft mice, but they've started putting the buttons in awkward places and have gone just a little too "ergonomic" for my liking.

I like a standard four-button mouse with a tactile scroll wheel.

I would NOT recommend a wireless mouse, though. My last mouse was wireless and needed new batteries about once every 3-4 weeks, depending on use. You'd be surprised how much you spend on batteries in a year!

Wireless keyboards are awesome, though. My Logitech wireless keyboard went over a year before needing a new set of batteries.

Also, any USB mouse will work with Vista.

I would go with this one. it is rechargable. the charge last a long time. Ryan has like it but different model.

I don't know how it well it will working in games. I know a few of the guys at Whempys use cordless mice and they stand by them.

Jared's advice is as good as anyone. I just don't think anything about mice beyond one that works.

I've had both microsoft and logitech mice, and either is fine. Going from XP to Vista with any mouse you would buy in a store shouldn't be a problem.

Oh, and I know Dana said he's had issues with his wireless mouse, but I have a microsoft one. I bought a pack of batteries at the same time, and two years later I haven't used all 8 of them yet.

Getting a rechargable one would be awfully nice though.

Rechargeable might be nice. The mouse I'm using right now at home is great (just like Adam's) but it doesn't have a fourth button. I might go looking for a mouse soon too...

I have a problem with modern mice, in that they're ALL either ergonomic or non-functional. Personally, I have to have a minimum of 5 buttons on the mouse, including the scrollwheel button. This is for shooters, obviously.

Unfortunately, the mice that have 5 or more buttons are all funny shaped pieces of crap that hurt my hand. I hate wedge-shaped mice. Why can't they make high-tech mice that are symmetrical? Symmetrical, dangit! That's what's comfortable on my regular sized hand with stubby fingers!

I like to have at least 5 buttons as well and would like to have a mouse that is not shaped ergonomically.

Good luck, then. I'd look towards the beige-colored Microsoft mice like the one I had through college (and still have).

I know they still have that body-design, but they at some point stopped putting on the thumb and pinkie buttons. Maybe you can still find them though, especially online.
