At a glance, I would say the more expensive one is formatted for HD.
That's only my guess though. |

There is a keyword that explains why it is more...
20 in Dell 2007FPW Ultrasharp™ Flat Panel Monitor Wide
Ultrasharp is the difference.
Now if you have seen my 20in wide... it is the Ultrasharp. And that is the reason I bought it. _________________ "Never fear, I is here!"

I'm looking at doing both Dana
Ok but still, one is ultrasharp but the ratio is the same, the max res is the same, the dot is the same. So what's the ultrasharp got that makes it better? _________________ Είναι όλα τα ελληνικά σε με

If you've ever seen Jared's monitor compared to mine, his picture comes out looking a little sharper. It's nice, for some high res games probably very very nice, but it's all a question of whether looks alone is worth the extra money.
Personally, fix the car first |

yeah J, I saw that word. I tend to IGNORE advertising words that cost $100. As in buying Shampoo or SOFT Shampoo which is $15 more than the normal Shampoo.
I know J has an awesome monitor, I didn't know he had the ULTRASHIT, er Sharp. Anyway, I'm not sure what I'm saying. I just tend to not buy in to advertising crap which is why I was sceptical on the ultra compared to the normal. if everything is both the same, get the cheaper one, don't buy into their advertising. If you have to choose between a fixed car or a monitor...FIX THE CAR & COME TO LAN PARTIES KTHX _________________

From my experience with the Ultrasharp and normal flat panels... I will always get the Ultrasharp... The normal flat panel monitors I have had and seem have a tendency to no be as bright and the reason for that is the backlights in the screens are not as good. Also on normal flat panels they have seem to get shadows or dimer spots in the corners and sometime in the center.
The ultrasharps don't seem to have those types of problem..
so I don't think it is an "advertising" thing.. The technology is actually better. _________________ "Never fear, I is here!"

Yep, this is why the Apple screens are so sought after... even if they are overpriced... it's because graphics pros will spend the money for better color quality.
I had to replace the backlight controller board in my Apple 17" flatscreen at work back in May (it's identical to the one I have at home) ... the board was $110 but the screen is still brighter and sharper with better color tone than most run-of-the-mill flatscreens. Those might be fine for gaming & normal every day use, but you won't see them in a print shop or design house. _________________
