Mroe Engrish pweez!

Oh, and hello Everquest 2.0. What started out as an immensely fun game with tons of promise for future play has become a grind-until-you-drop-then-buy-an-expansion-every-year-so-you-can-grind-more-OMG.

Yeah, that's about it.

I think the only promising thing about the new WoW expac is the possible ability to become a deathknight.

It really makes me kinda sad...they're just now, with a SECOND expansion, starting to put customizable options in the game - something SWG, COH/CoV, and even UO had right from the start. I'm relatively sure that "changing hairstyles" won't even amount to all that much when it really comes down to it. Wonder when they'll finally give in to customizable armor, which is the only real way to prevent everyone from looking the same.

I'm pretty darn interested in the story, and those zones look beautiful, but I know in my heart it's just another 10 levels of disappointment like BC was.

On that note, however, I would have originally guessed that Northrend would be the LAST expansion opened...and the Lich King would be the last true boss of the 100 level game. I hope they don't actually let you fight him at lvl 80...it just doesn't seem right. I bet Anub'Arak is the big boss of this one.

So any guesses what the last 2 expansions would be then? I'm guessing the Maelstorm, complete with a fight against Azshara and the Naga, would be the 80-90 expansion, and that one would likely open up Hyjal. That doesn't leave much for the last expansion, though, unless they plan on using the dragon portals and those last few tiny unused zones in Azeroth.

I thought this exp would be the Maelstrom one. However, better to do their big story now while they are still successfull (9 mill peeps playing now). If they wait too long to do the Arthas story everyone will be gone! Good to do it now while they are still on top. Level 80 might be it. With hero classes they may not NEED to go any higher.

The next expansion will be Mael & then if they do another after that it'll be something with Sargearas & it'll turn into EQ where you in different dimensions & time killing things that are just way to big for you to kill.

I still LOVE WOW & want to play it but know that it is a huge time sink, grind fest that I can't afford (time wise at least). I'd rather finish writing my book.

Interesting point, but even with people leaving in droves (and they are), the subscription and player base is still enormous, and will increase again with an expansion. I'm still not sure blowing the Arthas story now is a good idea.

Although Sargeras would make for a better "TRUE endgame" boss. I'm sure he'd drop some uber tier 10 lewt that will only be useful in procurement of more tier 10 lewt. Que sera-sera.

So it's agreed:

You can take the guy out of WoW, and you can take the WoW out of the guy...but you can't take the WOW out of Jessica Biel.

I think that the only reason Im excited about this one is because of the deathknight class. Its the class Ive wanted to play since WC3 came out.

Other expacs that they could do also include the Emerald Dream, although I personally dont think that theres enough for that to be a expac by itself. I think it is more likey to be a patch.

If only Sad . Blizzard confirmed on their current FAQ that the final boss for this expansion is indeed the Lich King. Kind of anti-climatic if you ask me...in the lore set up through the Warcraft series, is he not the current final end-all rallying against Azeroth? Any boss after that one will just seem kind of flat.

I read all about the new expansion at work yesterday, and after reading how it looks to be the exact same style as the burning crusade (10 levels, new land, new stills, one or two new "oh, I will play with this but forget it next week" items) I felt extremely motivated to uninstall. Which I did. Some of the new features seem really neat, and others make me think "about damn time", but I realized I would likely level to 80 on my priest and stop again, and there's no point in that. Smile

I'm checking out this online game called Dungeon Runners in the next couple days (whenever I stop working long enough to do it. It's supposed to be a very humorous take on Diablo-ish gameplay (I saw it in the current Games for Windows magazine; in their screenshot, one character was wielding a weapon that looked exactly like a two-handed pizza cutter). It's an MMO, but you are supposed to be able to play by yourself if you want. It works with the London: Hellgate model; most play is free; the $5 a month fee lets you avoid queues, get the best items reserved for the best instances, and bank space. I hope its good (the free part. It'd have to be great to get money out of me right now), as I've been really wanting a Diablo game for a while now.

Interesting, Todd...you can be our tester! If it's like Diablo, I may try it if you find it to be good. I'm pretty much done with your standard 3rd person grindfest MMO's tho...I've lost every inch of motivation for even some of the more promising ones like the Pirates and Darkfall.
