Alliteration aside, I haven't honestly cared enough about WWE recently to keep up with the reviews I was doing a few months ago. However, I was immediately hooked tonight, so I'll start and see how it goes.
Starting with Cena...easily his best promo of the last couple months. You could tell this was John speaking on his own, not from a script. It was funny and not overly cliche'd like he usually is. Carlito comes out, and the exchange is PURE GOLD. Cena's reactions (and interactions with the set) were great. Kennedy comes down, and his little bit with Carlito is kinda mundane, but when Cena interrupts them, more PURE GOLD. I tell ya, if Cena has promos like this every week, I could honestly get to liking him again. I just really want to know now why Kennedy started to say "Now go ahead and shoot..." when Cena interrupted. It sounded VERY off-script, and piqued my attention.
Women's match (God is Mickie hot....). Not bad, but they totally aren't giving them enough time to put on a proper match. Maria is too green to stand with the other 5, although I think she can still learn like Candace. I would like to see a sub-feud in the division between Mickie and Beth Phoenix. Since people love Mickie (God is Mickie hot....), she would really be able to get a reaction for Beth Phoenix, who I feel is a pretty good wrestler herself. Oh...and God, is Mickie hot...
Umaga...turning face? The crowd hates Santino so much there's really no other way to take it. I don't know that I really have a problem with that, actually. I'm pretty impressed with him as a monster, but I'll be pissed if they ever put the big belt on him. One thing is damn sure, though...if they want to turn Umaga face, he needs ARMANDO!
Randy vs. Sgt. Slaughter? Meh...
Cody Rhodes vs. Daivari...predictable, but a good showing for Cody. He's really green, but has some promise. I think he'd be best on Smackdown working with Kenny Dykstra, though.
Snitsky wants your childrens to remember to brush their tooths.
Decent Kennedy/Lashley match. Nothing special, which is disappointing because these two guys could go. Oh well...
HHH is coming back, prepare for ungodly booking.
I notice that Cena is seldom booked for title matches anymore. It's pretty much a given, since that would make all of his matches predictable...but it has the side effect of making title matches more infrequent, and therefore more meaningful. I approve.
Booker's new robe is freakin' awesome! Pretty slow match with Lawler, which is unfortunate, because I think Jerry is still capable of good matches - far beyond anything Piper, Dusty, Hogan, Slaughter, and even Flair are capable of anymore, and they've all gotten better matches recently...well, except Slaughter. I'm glad to see they didn't waste the big finish on RAW. With any luck, Booker will face Lawler at Summerslam, which is where HHH will return to face down Booker (who will win the feud, of course).
Rey's coming back...God help us.
Cryme Tyme gets a squash match? DUMB! Shad is a pretty gifted guy for his size. These are some white boots, but they got some BLACK SOLE! LOLZ! I see now why the squash...pretty good auction promo at the end.
With that, I'm going to go to bed. I know Orton/Slaughter will be a very sad squash (though we may see a Cobra Clutch reversed into the RKO), and though I think it will be decent, I've seen Cena vs. Carlito before. I am happy to see Carlito getting a bit of a rub, though. Guess the Sandman story is done. |
