Hmmm, is there a way to increase security in our signup system? Perhaps one of those nifty "fill in the letters in the box" things? Or do we have that already...I forget! |

No there isn't a box with letters in it you have to retype in the sign up. But they can't post in any section until Jared accepts them. Which will never happen. |

don't worry about the spammers they can't activity their accounts without an valid email address so, other then a database entry, they are doing nothing... I will remove them... I have just been really busy at work this week. _________________ "Never fear, I is here!"

Ok, I know this is happening, it actually got even worst about a month ago. I am doing everything I can to keep these people off the forum. I can't stop them from registering, but their accounts are never getting activated because I have to activate them. AND I am deleting them on a daily bases.
I had to start using the ban controls to stop the huge increase that I saw a month ago, so 1 or 2 a day isn't bad, and isn't going to kill your computer.
So please stop posting here. I know it is a problem but like spam email, there is no true cure for it, beside deleting the forum completely, and I don't see us doing that. _________________ "Never fear, I is here!"

Doesn't seem like a big deal to me...I haven't even seen a spam post in several months.
I don't suppose there's a way that you can set the forums to, say, not allow registration? I think everyone that needs an account here has one, and then maybe "open" registration again if someone else "joins the fold" and needs access?
I don't even know if this is possible, being a neophyte when it comes to webstuffz, but there's a brainstorming tidbit, nonetheless. |

Well, just checked the forum options. There is no way to disable registration ability... Good idea Damin... I will look for a mod that might allow registration to be disabled.
and ya, they can never post, it is just the website link they put in the profile are links to bad things that can damage a computer, but NO ONE should be looking at the spammer's profiles anyway, so I just delete them when I can since they can't do any damage. _________________ "Never fear, I is here!"
