Stacie is once again on the warpath to get a new desktop computer... her old one keeps kicking her off of Facebook for some odd reason.... anyways, I figure I better get one before the car breaks down, or some idiotic appliance goes haywire.

So, I guess I need advice on what kind of processor/bus arrangement and graphics cards would be best; or, what kind to avoid. I don't have the $$ to go after a high-end system, but hopefully I can find one that can handle a little gaming.

Here's one I saw at COSTCO that looked interesting....

Processor & Memory:

* Intel® Core™ i7-920 Processor at 2.66GHz
* 1MB L2 cache + 8MB L3 cache
* 6GB DDR3 SDRAM memory - 1066MHz

Graphics & Video:

* HP 2159m 21.5" diagonal widescreen flat panel monitor with integrated speakers
* 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card

Any thoughts?

I went to hp.com and priced a computer that matches the spec you listed.
you are only saving about $50.00 buying that at costco and I don't know if costco told you there were rebates.

I also went to newegg.com and price the components you listed.

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 - Retail
$279.99

Kingston 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KVR1066D3N7K3/6G - Retail $93.49

MSI R4350-D512Hv2 Radeon HD 4350 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail
$34.99

The fact that the video card in that HP is only worth $35 is why I say it might have trouble with Starcraft 2 it is the low of the low for that version of ATI.

Dana and I talked about it tonight. this would be what we would suggest. you can go ahead and get the computer from costco or order it from HP where ever... but plan to buy a better video card when starcraft 2 comes out. now that being said the graphic card that would run it great now will be way cheaper when it come out. but that is all up to you. if you want to talk let me know.
