Evidently, they made a series of four comic books that explain the background to the movie in greater detail than the STO website did, including why the Narada was so ungodly huge & powerful. The comic series was called Countdown. Here a link to Memory Alpha that gives a synopsis of the comics, if you are interested. Each comic is detailed at the links at the bottom of this page.

Sweet, there's a trade paperback version of all four issues... Apparently during April, only the Watchmen compilation sold better!

I'll have to stop by Comic Town over at Polaris sometime to see if I can pick it up.
