Sorry, but this isn't a "Let's go to the movies" thread, but a GO SEE THIS thread.
Alex and I went to the midnight showing at Lennox last night (just on a whim, we were bored at 11:00). I was prepared for this to be a throwaway movie, but it was fantastic, and often funny as hell. It's the Punisher the way he always should have been...it's even kind of a reboot from the last only-mediocre Punisher movie.
See it. Live the life. |

My review -- not a bad movie. Not bad at all. Well, sort of. Actually the dialogue was really shitty... and the gangster accents used by Jigsaw and his band of merry men were so awfully exaggerated, it made The Godfather sound like The English Patient.
I will now write three things that made me LOL, smile, or even cheer a little bit in my seat.
1) Blowing up meth-head #2 with a rocket launcher in mid-air
2) When Castle shot the mobster in the face at the kitchen table as Budiansky was calling him in
3) The nice little IED Castle fired into the room where the Cryme Tyme wannabes were hangin out.
Honorable mention: Detective Soap looked like John Dubusky.
Now I will write three things that made me annoyed, frown, or even ask "WTF?"
1) Jigsaw's little recruitment speech with the American flag waving behind him on some kind of movie screen. It was stupid and out of place.
2) Grandma Micro's head got exploded. I was seriously expecting to see her still sitting there watching TV.
3) Micro ate a bullet. This was fairly minor, though, and only irritated me because I wanted him to come back in sequels. So I'm willing to let that go.
All in all, I was entertained. Definitely a good Marvel Knights film!! _________________

He did.
Your review is solid. However, because the Punisher is my fav, I loved it. I thought Stevenson's portrayal of Castle was spot on. He gave a deep emotion to him at times to show what fuels Castle's rage and then was a stone cold killer the rest of the time. LOVED IT! _________________

Jigsaw's recruitment speech was very out of place...however, Jigsaw himself, and especially his crazy brother were the absolute highlights of the film. They were somewhat Joker-esque in their complete sociopathy, but they were absolutely hilarious. This movie needed that, to counter the absolutely stoic Castle.
Blowing the meth head up was Alex and I's favorite moment. The shotgunned mobster was a close second. When that meth head blew up, though, we couldn't stop laughing for several minutes. |
