I will log into steam and see if I have an invite request Todd...

Damin you do know you can change the contact email address for the account that have @mvnu.edu. I think it is kindof stupid, but at least they email me at my current address.

You're on my list Jared, should be good now.

Has anybody had a chance to try Portal yet? I didn't get the chance to this morning, and now I'm at work. Crying or Very sad

I'm gonna have to let it dl overnight, it's taking WAY longer than any of the other dl's. Of course, I'm at a hotel (which is why I'm lagging sometimes this week, for those who find me online).

BTW, you guys are so gonna hate me. I've been playing Spy almost exclusively, and figuring out all the tricks. I'll be the first to admit, spies are damned irritating, but BOY are they fun!!!!

They did a great job of rebalancing the game. Spies were almost never used in TFC, because they were too easy to detect. Not anymore!

Not having grenades in game is brilliant...no spamming!

My biggest complaint right now is that in non-ff mode (which I haven't seen a ff mode ON yet!), pyros are a bit unbalanced toward the kickass. It's just too easy to light up everyone, including cloaked/disguised spies!

After one evening of playing I like all the classes but LOVE the Pyro! Engineer is fun too. I've even been doing a lot of Medic (since most others won't).

I've yet to figure out how to play the Scout & Spy well...but it'll come.

I of course love the sniper but the engineer I am pretty good at have not really tried the other classes.

Scout seems to be my cup of tea, though I enjoy the heavy pretty well too.

Odd combo, I know.

Engineer seems like it will be pretty sweet. I haven't played the medic yet, but I seem to always gravitate towards support classes anyways, so I'll probably like it.

Portal is a pretty sweet concept - I played it last night (this morning) after work and had a lot of fun. Have a feeling it will be too short though. Game is pretty funny Very Happy

I got to play through portal some last night, but with my new computer, I am having a shit ton of video issues. I guess I need to get the new video for it (I borrowed an older pcie card from Josh).

that's a shame, though i dunno...minus processor/lag issues (portal and tf2 are showing my processors age for sure), i'm running an agp card still w/o video issues so much.

now, playing tf2 w/o sitting around for 5-8 minutes loading maps and servers, yeah, that doesn't work so well for me.

*Portal* itself is short, I'm pretty sure I'm almost done. There are bonus/challenge levels to do also though.

People don't often think of the Spy as support, but he is really the second most important support hero, behind the Medic. He's the only one in the game now that's really adept at taking down turrets solo. Even a heavy or soldier really can't without a Medic.

Adam, the secret of the scout is the circle-strafe...master it and you're golden...you can kill heavies. Personally, I hate Scout, because it's too much movement. Spy is all about second guessing your enemies, which is usually my forte' since it relies more on strategy than twitch - it's probably the class with the steepest learning curve. I'm also immensely fond of the Demoman's sticky bombs, which are kind of equivalent to the C4 I love oh-so much in HL1.

Oddly, though I loved sniper in the old one, I'm not too fond of it now. Medic is fun, now that you get points for healing. It gets boring, though. Heavy is just the same as always...I hate Soldiers so much I can't even bring myself to play as one...and I'm not a fan of the Pyro. Even though they pwn now...just not my style. Engi was great fun in TFC, but it's the one class I really just haven't tried out yet in TF2.

I just realized last night how cool some of the standard game addons are. If you die 3 times to the same person without killing them in return, you get "dominated" by them, and they show a special icon on the scoreboard and over their head. If you kill them, you get bonus points. It really increases replay value on a single server. Also, if you do significant damage to a target, you and the actual killer will share the points from the kill - absolutely ingenious!

I spent some time this afternoon playing as the medic, and its pretty okay. the ubercharge is fun, and I really like that they made the guy crazy-german-doctor guy. The taunts in TF2 are great. Not a pyro fan. Soldiers are okay. Like the heavy, scout, and engineer...seems like the portals *could* be really useful, but you probably wouldn't be able to put them up and keep them very often.

Some of the special achievements/settings are neat. I've gotten a couple revenges so far, and some assists on kills too - I do like that the kill listing on the screen shows multiple people killing one target for assists.

I'm really stuck on Portal though. Before I went to work, I played Quake II for a bit (bought them all on steam and playing through them) and I kept thinking of places/things I could do with portals. Can't wait 'til that gets modded to other games - CS w/ portals anyone?

I finished Portal today (in one day, yeah its short) however...I thought this game was going to be fun.....BUT IT'S AWESOME!

I HIGHLY recommend it to ALL of you. Its well worth it & the story is great. Yes there is a story. I can't wait to talk with Todd about it after he's done.

There is a song around the internet about Portal...if you plan on finishing Portal, DON'T LISTEN TO IT! Its about 100 times funnier if you've played through the game. Well worth it! I'm off to do the bonus levels!
