Valve announced today it is delaying Portal 2 into 2011.

The game was originally scheduled to ship this coming holiday on Mac, PC and Xbox 360.

No reason for the delay was given, but a note from the series' in-game research company Aperture Science noted that "even though Portal 2 will arrive slightly later than planned, all life on earth won't instantaneously stop as every molecule in your body explodes at the speed of light, which is what would happen should a rip ever appear in the fabric of Valve Time."

Valve recently announced it canceled its E3 event for Portal 2 that was supposed to take place next week. The company said it has a surprised planned for the night instead, and has clarified it is related to Portal 2, not the heavily rumored Half-Life 2: Episode Three.
