it could be just some rock that has been worn down over the years, however what are the chances of a rock being weathered down into that shape. and if it was weathered down, why is the surrounding area flat? there are lots of questions that could be asked, but I think Buzz is right we need to go to mars to get those answers. only so much information can be gotten from looking from afar.

Mathematically speaking, the chances of it being weathered down into that shape are the same as the chances of it being weathered down into any other shape that the environment would allow for, *shrug* , so that in itself isn't really special or noteworthy beyond it being familiar to something in our eyes.

Course if we use it as an excuse for more exploration, that's fine with me anyway.

Ditto that!!!

But in all seriousness, imagine what a Mars mission would do for science & technology, especially considering how much the Apollo and Shuttle programs have created.

Onwards to Mars!

Yeah, but we'd rather have free health care and subsidized cars instead of real advancement that might mean we'd have to produce something, for once.

Sorry America, but you are stupid with your money, no amazing science/technology invention and advancement for you!

agreed...maybe if you just vote for whoever the media hates...then the country will become a better place where we will have money to spend on such awesome advancements.

I think people miss the point that it wasn't the Space industry that led to such developments nearly so much as it was the race with the USSR to get there.

Not to take away from the incredible advances Space Exploration has brought us, but it would be no different from any other Government-run agency if not for the Soviets.
