So I've begun my newest ingame profession, Auction House Speculating. It was something I've been wanting to do for a while, knowing there HAD to be money in it. So far, it really seems to be true. I've started tracking key items in the AH, and am speculating on how the market trends will continue.

The purpose of this post is two-fold. First of all, I'd like to get some help. Anytime you're online, and notice AH prices for some key items, I'd like to have it posted here for my research. Specifically, I need to know when the price fluctuates noticably (like Icecap going from 10g to 15g per stack) and holds there for a significant period of time (like several days to a week.) I'll catch most of them, but extra eyes would certainly help.

Don't make a special effort, just take note if they are goods you typically deal with.

Here is a list of the things I'm currently tracking (Horde side only, though I have been working on Alliance side with certain select items).

Full Stacks (only) of:
Major Healing Potions - 6g
Major Mana Potions - 12g
Icecap - 10g
Dreamfoil - 18g
Gromsblood - 11g
Thorium Bars - 5.75g

Individuals of:
Nexus Crystals - 13g
Arcane Crystals - 34g
Golden Pearls - 23g
Black Lotus - 25g
Large Brilliant Shards - 5.5g
Major Eternal Essence - 5g
Azerothian Diamond - 6g
Mooncloth - 9g
Righteous Orb - 34g
Essence of Water - 8g
Essence of Fire - 7g
Essence of Air - 10g
Essence of Earth - 4g

I will be editing/updating this list as prices fluctuate.
Hopefully this will be helpful in the next 2 months for determining good selling prices, since most AH mods are not reflexive enough to provide accurate to-the-day pricing. If there's something else you'd like me to add to the list, lemme know.

Assuming I can get firmly grounded in this plan, I see myself spending the next couple months doing this in my spare time (since morning/afternoon is the very best time for investing in the AH, and the entire act only takes about 45 minutes each day). Consequently, I can also possibly help some of you sell your goods at peak prices/times. It's all up in the air right now, but I'll keep you posted.

Have you tried the Auctioneer mod? I use it all the time. You can set it to scan the auction house and walk away. Then when you mouse over any item that's able to be sold on the AH, it will tell you the median buyout, average selling price, cost per unit, etc. .... it's pretty detailed.

Scanning the AH usually takes 10-15 min during peak times, so I imagine it'd go a lot faster in the morning. And that scans the entire AH, not just a few items.

Bought stack of Dreamfoil for 8g...resold later that day for 18g.

Looks like you're right, Adam, I'll fix that if that price trend continues today.

I managed to buy an epic sword worth 100g last night for 60g, as well. So far, so good.

We have a guy in the guild I am in who started playing the AH with 50g and now has nearly 600g.
