Okay, so I just brought home Neverwinter Nights 2. Installed it, no problem. Checked system specs...
Recommended: Athlon 64 (got it)
Recommended: 1 GB RAM (got it)
Required: RADEON 9500+ PRO or comparable (Got a 9550)
And it won't run in a playable way on ANY graphics setting.
I am somewhat suprised, given that I not only meet the minimum requirement on processor and RAM, but have the recommended! I guess my graphics card just barely cutting it doesn't really cut it at all! Now I'll have to buy a new freakin' card just to play.
*sigh*...I totally can't remember the last time I had to upgrade my PC just for a game. Maybe SWG? Renegade? Either way, this is the first time in a long time that my fairly up-to-date computer has failed to play a new game. This is actually the first game I've ever put below "high" quality graphically too...

lol, Oblivion (which you should play) was like that. It ran on my system tho, I just had to lower ever setting to the lowest they could go. Looks like I won't be getting NWN2. _________________

Todd just tried installing Damin's NWN2 with a cracked #... the crack worked, but he has the same problem. The game just won't run well on his system, even with all the settings on minimum. He's basically decided that he's not going to play it at all, since it's too much trouble to get his system up to spec.
I still plan on getting a Mac Pro soon, but not just for this one game. However, the fact that NWN2 is this big of a problem for so many of us tells me that my PC won't be playing many new games in the future. Same goes for all of us. My G4 has had this problem for a couple years already. WoW won't run on it anymore, not after patch 1.5. They did too much optimizing on the graphics engine or something. The next version of OS X will be optimized for 64-bit, which also won't work on the G4.
Now that it looks like the PC is going to start having that problem, I might as well replace them both with one computer that can do the job of both. _________________
